William Owen Works

William Owen is a Carrabelle based artist who works in watercolor, pastels, oils and photography. He is an avid outdoorsman and has been creating art based on the natural landscape since he was a teenager in Central NY where the lakes and rivers of the Adirondack Mountains gave him inspiration. He is primarily self-taught, working with a wide variety of mentors through the years.

Since retiring from his job with New York State and relocating to Florida in 2012 William has been able to pursue both is love of sailing and his love of painting. He spends as much time as possible on and near the water where he draws inspiration for his latest pieces.

William enjoys using a variety of media to capture the unique feel of rural, coastal Florida. He has recently been working en Plein Air with pastels as it affords him the opportunity to be near the water where he feels there is there is always something worth capturing on his canvas.

William prides himself on his attention to detail but looks forward to challenging himself to develop a more “loose” approach in order to add variety to his work.
