Ann Kozeliski Works

Ann Kozeliski

I have been creating all my life. As a national award winning artist in three mediums, my path has taken me to Sumi-e', Japanese ink painting.

For more than 25 years I have been perfecting my skills and technique, finding my direction in the Mougu Fa style or Boneless style, simply stated it is brush to paper, no drawing, no transfers, no projections, purely brush to paper. Creating with tone and technique, how you load the brush and apply pressure to create the stroke.

My passion is painting people. I call them Portraits in Passing. Paintings of people I see on the streets. Something about their Chi catches my mind's eye and I bring it out through my brush, creating a portrait of a moment, not of a person.

My mantra is Less in More. I purposely leave my backgrounds blank. This invites the viewers to determine their own scenario for the subject or paint their own conclusion.

I have exhibited my work locally, nationally and internationally with a solo show in Tianjin, China in 2015.
