Leah True Salerno was raised a daughter of Kentucky and Alabama. Each state helping to form her sense of values and beauty. Since 2018, Leah has been fortunate to split her residence between Chattanooga, TN and the Forgotten Coast, with her artist husband, Dave Salerno.
Until retiring from cardiac nursing, Leah had no thought of painting. With persistent encouragement from Dave, she eventually painted her first oil sketch in November 2014. Since that first simple still life painting, she has immersed herself in art. Taking classes at Townsend Atelier in Chattanooga from numerous talented instructors, Leah continues to grow as an artist.
Leah is a representational oil painter, exploring all genres. She often employs the painting knife to keep her paintings loose and add texture. Her style continues to emerge as she studies with different artists. Leah also enjoys plein air painting which allows her to connect with nature and humanity.
Leah is honored to be represented by River’s Edge Gallery in Apalachicola, FL.
“Art offers me a new vision. It is the fulfillment of a dream that I didn’t realize was possible.”
