Faye Meacham Gibson has been drawing for as long as she can remember. She won her first poster contest in the second grade and by the time she was 12 had chosen a career in art. Her father, a pilot in the US Army, brought the family to Apalachicola where Faye completed high school establishing life-long friendships with some of the finest people in the world. A graduate of Florida State University, Faye has had a very fulfilling career as a graphic designer specializing in branding for non-profit organizations. Over the last 10 years, she has renewed her focus on the fine arts, particularly oil painting.
She and her husband, Murray Gibson, spend time whenever possible at their retreat in Apalachicola. In fact, although they both enjoy traveling far and wide, home for Faye is watching the sun rise and set from the end of her dock on Apalachicola Bay – themes that are featured in much of her work. Frequently painting from photographs, she manages to capture the scene while adding her own artistic flair to the painting. She attributes inspiration to her Lord and Savior and often jots a scripture on the back of her canvases.
Faye is blessed with an artistic daughter, Lauren Servati, a talented textile designer recently featured in Architectural Digest Pro (laurenservati.com). We look forward to hosting a mother/daughter show next Mother’s Day featuring these two talented women with deep roots in Apalachicola.
